Memorial Day Service at the State Capitol

5/24/2013

Brothers-

This Monday, May 27th, Memorial Day, Deputy Dean would like to get as many Masons as possible to attend the State Memorial Day Service at the State Capitol.

For those interested, please gather at the Masonic Temple in Madison between 8 and 8:30. At 9, everyone will walk up to the State Capitol together, clothed as Masons for the service, which begins at 9:30. Bring your aprons and any jewels of your office.

This is a great opportunity not only to show the community that Masons are active, but also a great way to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Congratulations to our newest Entered Apprentice!

5/21/2013

Brothers and friends,

I would like to congratulate Brother Oscar Wilson on his being initiated as and Entered Apprentice last Saturday. We have been informed that our two recent Master Masons will show their proficiency at the next meeting. We are to receive two more petitions shortly and we have two more Master Mason Degrees and another Fellow Craft Degree to do as well.

As you can see, your Lodge is growing. As a pat on the back, many of our newest Master Masons are doing the posting, working with our Counselor Lloyd Laskowski and it is working well. We also invite our newest members to participate in practice in the Degree they just received and breakfast the next Saturday after their Degree.

Check out your website at jvlmasons.com for continual updates.

God Bless
Tom

Richard W. "Dick" Hadden, 87

5/21/2013

It is my sad duty to inform you that Brother Richard Hadden (a 59 year member) has laid down his working tools and has made that journey to that House not made with hands. I have called his wife Jean but had no answer thus I left her a message expressing our condolences from the Lodge. Richard was a plural member and I remember him telling us that he used to do the Masonic Services and he did serve as our Chaplain in 2001. He spent his career as a micro-biologist and had many stories. Cards of sympathy can be sent to his wife Jean at 815 N Osborne Ave. Janesville, WI 53548-2345. Please keep Jean in your prayers.

Richard W. "Dick" Hadden, 87, Janesville, died Monday at home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Janesville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services May 31 at the church. Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, Janesville, is assisting the family.

Thank you from your Worshipful Master

Brothers,

There are a few of us who have been around for a while and have seen the highs and the lows. I would like to take this time to thank you for "just being you".

As I keep telling you, your Lodge (each or you collectively) is making a difference and people are noticing. Your Lodge, because of each of you, has all the earmarks and signs of being one of the premier Lodges in the State of Wisconsin in the near future. You are all learning the "talk" but more importantly you are already "walking the walk".  Although our Ritual work is progressing more than nicely, your involvement with the community, your churches, your family, our sweethearts, and those less fortunate, is shining brightly.

The future of your Lodge is solid and with your friends and acquaintances as well as those great caring candidates known to us as only "interested", are really gifts that we have been given. You are becoming known for not just your Ritual, but for the essences of our Fraternity; compassion, caring, service, friendships, fellowship, gentleness and moral role models for Brothers, non Brothers and families alike.

Your efforts are recognized and I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you. At our last EA degree, I counted almost 40 on the lines (both our members and visitors), the committees are professional and productive, ideas or flowing and the love of the Craft is evident.

You have given the Leadership your vision of what you want it to look like and it is a great one. To all the senior members who have not been to Lodge for a while, we miss you and are anxious to show you what we have going on. We have a long way to go to get to where I have been told you want to go, but it all starts with PASSION and I am grateful that you all have it.

God Bless each and every one of you.

Tom
